Regional News Organization started its journey on 11th December, 1970 – three years after that of Bangladesh Betar following robust demand of the people of greater Rangpur. The then broadcasting house of Bangladesh Betar, Rangpur was at Uttam, Kellabond about three kilometer away of Rangpur city. In 1985, the broadcasting house of Bangladesh Betar, Rangpur has been shifted at Dhap-Engineer para.

 

Primarily, Bangladesh Betar, Rangpur only made and broadcast various types of programs to serve its purpose to communicate, inform, entertain and educate. Later, on 11th December, 1970 through the broadcast of local news Regional News Organization of Rangpur strengthen Betar’s purpose of informing people.


At the beginning Regional News Organization had two posts `News Editor’ and `Assistant Editor’.  Later on the name of the post `News Editor’ has been changed as `Regional Controller of News’.  In 1985 another post of officer has been created which is the same till now.


The journey of the Regional News Organization started with one five-minute local bulletin broadcast at 6.55 p m; after the liberation war the has been shifted at 5.30 p m. In 1985 two more and in 2017 the fourth bulletin has been inaugurated. Regional News Organization broadcasts its news at 8.10 a m, 12.10 p m, 2.05 p m and 7.00 p m.


A notable and smart change has been brought in the broadcast style of this News Organization. Before 2020 the only way to broadcast is betar medium wave 1053 kilohertz and F M 88.8, 105.6, 90 megahertz but now in line with the Government’s Vision-2021 `Digital Bangladesh’ and Vision- 2041 `Smart Bangladesh’ this Regional News Organization is broadcasting its news and news reports in video format in its own Facebook and YouTube channel, betar apps and web portal. Thus it is maintaining a close connection with its listeners and viewers providing them on-demand news of public interest.
